In response to criticism that Colnago frames were not stiff enough, Ernesto experimented with various crimped-tube frames. In 1982 he introduced the Super Profil, the geometry of the bicycle was based around the Colnago Super, however, the Profil was Colnago's first frameset with crimped tubing. The Super Profil was constructed with superb Columbus SL tubing with crimps on either side of the top tube. 

What we have here is something really special, a custom-built Colnago Super Profil Time Trial. The rear triangle has been made steeper, which in turn gives the bicycle a shorter wheelbase. To compensate for the greater pressure that would be pushed upon this rear triangle, the stays have all been bolstered. The change in the rear geometry has pushed the mounting of the rear brake forward, which also provides aero dynamical benefits. The cable for the rear brake, follows the profile of the frameset along the top of the top tube, which will reduce drag. The shifting levers have been moved into the main triangle on top of the downtube, with internally routed cables. 

Only a top level Campagnolo groupset would have been suitable for the bike! It is equipped with Campagnolo SuperRecord Gruppo with a special cherry on top - Colnago pantographed parts.
